Cookie Policy

This policy covers both of our websites: the Movin site at https://movin.id and the Movin web app at https://app.movin.id. They are covered together because they share the movin.id domain, and a few cookies — including your cookie choice — are deliberately readable by both so you are not asked twice. The Movin native mobile app for iOS and Android does not use browser cookies.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember preferences, or understand usage. Some information is also kept in your browser’s local storage, such as your light or dark theme choice; it never leaves your device.

Cookies we use

  • Essential — your sign-in session in the web app (so you stay signed in), your language choice, and security. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
  • Functional — remembering that you have already seen the introduction, and holding a referral code until you finish signing up (kept up to 30 days).
  • Your cookie choice (movin_consent) — stored whether you accept or decline, so we stop asking. Declining is remembered just as durably as accepting.
  • Analytics, optional and off until you accept — Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) and a record of the campaign or link that first brought you to Movin (movin_attribution), used to understand which pages help travellers find the right trip.

What we do not do

  • We do not set advertising cookies on any Movin surface.
  • We do not sell cookie data to third parties.
  • We do not load analytics before you agree. Until you accept, no analytics cookie is written to your device — declining is the default, not something you have to ask for.

Managing cookies

  • A consent banner appears on your first visit. Choosing “Only essentials” means no analytics cookies are set at all.
  • Your choice applies to both movin.id and app.movin.id, so you are only asked once.
  • To change your mind at any time, use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of this site, or Settings → About & Legal in the web app. Declining later also deletes the analytics cookies already stored on your device.
  • You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may sign you out of the web app or limit site features.
